English Language Arts is perhaps the most important subject taught in schools today. Is your child struggling? You are not alone. Many students across the nation are in need of extra tutoring outside the classroom. I have been teaching/tutoring students in reading and writing skills for years, and I want to help.
- Your child is getting low grades in his or her English Language Arts class.
- Your child performs poorly on ELA standardized tests.
- Your child finds writing challenging, or has difficulty comprehending grade-level texts.
- Your child is extremely gifted and wants extra coaching to improve their writing (I have had great success helping aspiring young writers improve their craft!)
"You gave me a creative outlet. I used to hate writing. Now when I get bored, I sit and write books…You believed in me when a lot of people in my life didn’t…If I could have one teacher for the rest of my life, it would be you.” -8th grade English Language Arts student
" I’m going to cry when I change electives because Creative Writing taught me more then my regular classes. I am so happy that I could experience having a wonderful class and fantastic teacher.” -6th grade Creative Writing student
My degree is in English Education. I am a licensed English Language Arts teacher certified in Nevada and have both taught and tutored middle and high school students. I do not work with elementary-level students, as this requires a different educational background to be effective.
First, the good news: the first half hour of tutoring is FREE! I use this time to get to know your student and his or her abilities.
After that, if we both decide this is a good fit, I reach out to the student's ELA teacher to stay up-to-date on assignments and material covered in class. I generally meet with client students one session a week, but may be able to do more depending on the circumstances.
My price is negotiable, depending on the financial situation of the family in need of tutoring.
IMPORTANT: As I am high-risk for covid19, for the time being I can only tutor online. This means you will need a decent Internet connection and a way to video-chat.
I offer a weekly online creative writing class for middle-schoolers and high-schoolers interested in improving their story-writing abilities. You can find the class here.
